On June 25, 2025, Aditya Ashok of OPAL-RT Technologies and Lucas Molina of SuperGrid Institute co-hosted a technical webinar exploring advanced real-time simulation workflows for integrating blackbox inverter-based resource (IBR) models into HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) and SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) environments. The session highlighted how these workflows enable earlier and more accurate system validation, improving pre-commissioning confidence and grid interconnection readiness. Central to the discussion was a standardized approach proposed by the CIGRE B4.82 Working Group for integrating OEM blackbox controllers into real-time platforms, illustrated through insights from a major R&D initiative focused on complex EMT studies. Attendees gained actionable guidance for applying these methods in modernizing energy infrastructure and accelerating project deployment.
